I love this! I wish I had more natural short video skills as I feel like that’s really where so many people exist these days (tik tok etc) and I’d love to help advance empathy for wildlife. I had an article come out in Texas Monthly in June about the threatened Texas tortoise and they didn’t even post about it on their Instagram (just X). In hindsight, I wished I would have pitched an accompanying short video series so I made it easy for them to promote it more.
Thank you, Joy! Maybe it's not too late to do an accompanying short video for the threatened Texas tortoise? Possible to do one for your Substack? I'd love to see it and would gladly share! It's sad that attention spans have become so fractured that many would rather watch short videos than read. Although there is so much saturation of video, too. It's hard to know what will make the most impact. I've yet to get comfortable with (and on) video. Maybe we can give each other moral support for that!
